Hank Duncan won his second ABT Masters title
in our Firecracker Singles at Brunswick Zone Thunderbird Lanes.
Hank qualified 11th for the top 12 finals
and earned his berth in the title match by defeating Rob Finder 248-192,
Mike Whitten 228-201, and John Lee 272-254. Hank's opponent in the
championship match was Dave Palojarvi Jr. Dave qualified 7th and advanced
by eliminating Keith Garrett 218-171, Steve Taylor 224-198, and Rick
Slusin 223-180. Hank started the title match with a turkey but Dave did
him one better, staring with a four-bagger to take a 4-pin lead after four
frames. When Hank left a rail in frame 6, Dave extended his lead to 16. In
the 7th frame, it was Dave's turn to leave a split and Hank jumped on his
opportunity by rolling a four-bagger in frames 7-10 to come from behind
and win by the final score of 245-218.
Champion's Profile: Hank Duncan is 53 years old and employed as a food
technician for Unilever Best Foods. He is married to Juanita and they have
two children, Jada and Jorri and one grandchild, Aja. Hank has been
bowling for 36 years and bowls leagues at Dolton, Castaways, and Martin
Luther King Bowl. His high game is 300 and he has a high series of 824 to
his credit. Hank was rolling a Reactive Scout and a Brunswick Fuze drilled
by Jose Torres at Action Pro Shop. Hank thanked the ABT and Brunswick Zone
for having the tournament and his wife for letting him bowl. He said his
winnings would be used to pay some bills.
congratulations
hank!
