J.S. Scaletta earned his "black shirt" by winning his second ABT Masters title in this week's event at Stardust Bowl.

Curt Aemisegger opened the stepladder finals by defeating Boots Kass 207-168. Cindy Brown then eliminated Aemisegger 219-169. In match three, Cindy struck out in the 9th and 10th frames to squeak past Angelo Pancotto 222-221. In the title match, Cindy strung a four-bagger in frames three through six to take a 13-pin lead over top seed J.S. Scaletta. J.S. then doubled in the seventh and eighth frames while Cindy left a rail in frame eight, giving J.S. the lead after eight. Cindy missed consecutive ten pins in the ninth and tenth frames and J.S. finished clean to win by the final score of 218-186.

Champion's Profile: J.S. Scaletta is 28 years old and employed as an electrical engineer for Emerson Appliance Controls. He is married to Renee and has been bowling since age eight. J.S. currently bowls leagues at Espo's and Stardust Bowl. His high game is 300 and he has a high series of 803 to his credit. J.S. was using a Columbia Wow drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop in Elgin. J.S. credits his dad, John, as having helped him to develop his game. He thanked his mom and dad, his wife Renee, Reid Flammang, and Tony Sokolowski for all their support. He also thanked the ABT and Stardust for having the event. J.S. said his winnings would be used for a new car for his wife.
