Chris Carter won his first ABT Classic title
in our 12th Anniversary event at Espo's Entertainment Center. Chris was
the top qualifier for the top eight match play finals and he advanced by
defeating Nick Oswald 202-160 and Bob Reynolds 245-225. His opponent in
the championship match was Marcia Kopecky who qualified 8th and advanced
by defeating Ron Harast 223-208 and James White 213-177. Marcia bowled
well in the title match but unfortunately for her Chris strung 11 strikes
in a row rolling the best game of his life on his way to a 292-216
victory.
Champion's
Profile: Chris Carter is 30 years old and employed as a service
technician for Seigles. He is married to Lynn and they have a 3-year-old
child named Harley. Chris has been bowling for 20 years and currently
bowls leagues at Bowl Hi and Brunswick Zone Algonquin. His high game is
279 and he has a 709 series to his credit. Chris was using a Brunswick
Inferno drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop inside
Espo's. Chris said that competition from his wife Lynn keeps him working
on his game. He thanked Lynn for her support and Joe Bacagaluppi for his
help with ball choices and drilling expertise. Chris also thanked the ABT
and Espo's for having the event. His winnings will be used for more
tournaments.
congratulations
chris!
Tournament Notes:
I want to thank all the volunteers who have stepped up their efforts to
ensure that our tournaments continue to operate smoothly during my
absence. I can't begin to tell you how greatly your efforts are
appreciated. I also want to thank all of the bowlers who showed up this
week to make our 12th Anniversary a memorable one. Walking into a full
house of bowlers on Sunday was the best medicine I could possibly have and
I am looking forward to getting back to you on a full time basis as soon
as possible.
