Verdell Love Jr. won his first ABT Classic
title by defeating Tom Bendull 212-185 at Rynish Bowling Center.
In match one of the stepladder finals, Tom
Bendull defeated Gordon Olson 242-196. In match two Bendull eliminated
Brandi Bobrick 211-172. In match three Bendull defeated Michael Love
195-185 to earn his shot at top seed Verdell Love Jr. In the title match
Verdell turkeyed in frames 2-4 to open a 28-pin lead. Tom doubled in
frames 5 and 6 to cut into the lead but Verdell stretched it back out in
the last two frames winning by the final score of 212-185.
Champion's
Profile: Verdell Love Jr. is 35 years old and employed in
pharmaceuticals. He is married to Catrice and has two teenage children.
Verdell has been bowling for four years and currently bowls league at
Rynish. He has a high game of 264 and a 626 high series to his credit.
Verdell was using a Columbia Arc drilled by Carl Edelman at Elk Grove
Bowl. Verdell said that his wife Catrice, Thomas Frazier, and Will and
Sharon Irby have all helped him with his game. He thanked God for his
ability to bowl, his supporters during the finals, and the ABT and Rynish
for having the tournament. Verdell said he would let his wife spend his
winnings.
