Steve Lewis won his fifth ABT Masters title
by defeating J.S. Scaletta 233-227 at Sunset Bowl.
Brian Spiller won match one of the
stepladder finals by forfeit when the number five qualifier, Gordon Brown,
failed to show. In match two J.S. Scaletta defeated Brian Spiller 213-155.
In match three J.S. Scaletta defeated Mike Donnelly 222-196. The
championship match was nip and tuck all the way with J.S. Scaletta leading
by 3 pins after 8 frames. A stubborn 4-pin refused to fall for J.S. in the
9th giving top seed Steve Lewis the room he needed as he strung a five-bagger
in frames 7-10 to come away with the hard-fought 233-227 victory.
