*** Nolte wins at Sunset ***

Rich Nolte won his third ABT title by defeating Michael Shugrue 240-176 at Sunset Bowl.

In match one of the top-seven finals, Melvin Mosley Jr. 181 defeated Whip Ibanez 174 and Verdell Love Jr. 172. In match two Mel Mosley Jr. defeated John Emmerich 211 and Eric Seebacher 210. In match three Rich Nolte defeated Mel Mosley Jr. 236-135 to advance to the title match against top seed Michael Shugrue. Michael doubled to start the championship match but Rich answered with a turkey in frames 2-4 to open up a 38-pin lead. Rails for Michael in the 5th and 8th frames allowed Rich to stretch his lead and he put the match away with another turkey in frames 8-10 to go on to the final 240-176 victory.

Champion's Profile: Rich Nolte is 50 years old and employed as a truck driver. He is married to Jeannie and they have four children: Ryan, Kevin, Justin, and Kristin. Rich has been bowling for 20 years and currently bowls leagues at Espo's Entertainment Center. He has a high game of 299 and a 660 high series to his credit. Rich was using a Columbia Scout drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop inside Espo's. He credits Tom Carter and Mike Martenson Sr. and Rick Wunder for their support. He also thanked the ABT staff and Sunset Bowl for having the event. Rich said his winnings would be used to pay bills.

congratulations Rich!

Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Rich Nolte who rolled a nice 279+20+4=303 game to break a 295 Pot for $500. Nice bowling Rich!

On a sad note, we are sorry to report that ABT member Ernie Manno recently passed away. Ernie was a tough competitor who will be missed by all who knew him. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
