Carmelo Rosa won his second ABT title with a
230-207 victory over Chuck Peters at Hawthorn Lanes.
In match one of the finals Bob Torres 226
defeated David Palojarvi Jr. 222 and Enrique Chavez 199. In match two Rick
Riddle 201 defeated Tom Sendaj 197 and Bob Torres 167. In match three
Carmelo Rosa defeated Rick Riddle 226-221 to advance to the championship
match against top seed Chuck Peters. Chuck had a 10 pin lead after five
frames of the title match but Carmelo strung a five-bagger in frames six
through ten to go on to win by the final score of 239-207.
Champion's
Profile: Carmelo Rosa is 54 years old and owns Carmelo's Auto Sales.
He is married to Zoraida and they have a 28-year-old daughter named
Yvette. Carmelo has been bowling for 26 years and currently bowls league
at Bowlway Lanes. He has a high game of 280 and a 709 high series to his
credit. Carmelo was using a Brunswick Raging Inferno drilled by Greg
Grocke at Bowlway Lanes. Carmelo credits Greg as having helped him to
improve his game. He thanked his wife for being there to see him win. She
missed his first win and he dedicated this win to her. Carmelo said his
winnings would be used for a trip to Maui in July.
