John Sypniewski won his fourth ABT Masters
title by defeating Carmelo Rosa 210-199 at Espo's Entertainment Center.
John qualified seventh for the match play finals and advanced by defeating
Tim Culp 213-204 and Keith Klenck 214-179. Carmelo qualified fifth and he
advanced with victories over Griffin Taylor 200-181 and Jim Clancy
200-188. In the championship match Sypniewski held a slim two-pin lead
entering the final two frames. Rosa left a rail in the ninth frame while
Sypniewski stayed clean in the ninth and tenth to seal the deal by the
final score of 210-199.
Champion's
Profile: John Sypniewski is years old and employed as a plant
superintendent for LCS Corp. He is married to Marylin and the have four
children. John has been bowling for 12 years and currently bowls league at
Lombard Lanes. His high game is 300 and he has a 786 high series to his
credit. John was using a Track Phenom drilled by Leon Buroff at the
Bowlers Corner Pro Shop inside Lombard Lanes. John said that Leon's
coaching and ball choices have helped John to improve his game. He thanked
the ABT for having the tournament and Espo's for putting out a great
tournament shot. John said his winnings would be used for a new bike for
his daughter Ramona. He also said that he'd like to see a tough shot like
this one more often. My sentiments exactly, John.
