Dean Krause won his third ABT title by
defeating Rudy Seidl 218-198 at Mundelein Lakeside Lanes.
In match one of the stepladder finals David
Palojarvi Jr. defeated Jim Kedroski 242-237. In match two David Palojarvi
Jr. defeated Rich Flood 208-178. In match three Rudy Seidl defeated David
Palojarvi Jr. 220-218 to earn his shot at top seed Dean Krause. In the
title match Seidl left splits in the first and fourth frames allowing
Krause to open up a quick 30-pin lead. Seidl doubled in the seventh and
eighth frames to cut the lead down to nine pins but that was as close as
he could get as Krause struck out in the tenth to put the match away by
the final score of 218-198.
Champion's
Profile: Dean Krause is 38 years old and employed as an engineer for
Henderson Engineering. He is also the owner of Hometown Lanes in Plano.
Dean is married to Denise and they have two sons, Tyler and Mitchell, ages
17 and 14. Dean has been bowling since age eight and currently bowls
leagues at Hometown Lanes and Fox River Lanes. His high game is 300 and he
has a 783 high series to his credit. Dean was using a Visionary Gryphon G3
drilled by Steve Ford at Hometown Pro Shop. Dean said that practicing on
PBA shots has helped him to improve his game. He thanked the ABT and
Lakeside for having the event along with his wife and kids for their
support. Dean said his winnings would be used for his son Tyler's
graduation party. He also said that he was thankful that the ABT is around
to provide competition and enjoyment of the game.
