Mark Clark won his eighth ABT title by
defeating Dean Mueller 256-236 at Hawthorn Lanes. Mark qualified fourth
for the match play finals then advanced by defeating Hank Duncan 224-202
and Chris Regas 173-143. Dean Mueller qualified fifth and he advanced with
victories over Jose Lopez Jr. 215-199 and Chad Kloss 191-187. In the title
match Mark used a five-bagger in frames two through six to build a 27-pin
lead after five frames. Dean came right back with a five-bagger of his own
in frames six through ten to cut the margin to seven but Mark answered the
challenge with four more strikes in frames eight through ten to win by the
final score of 256-236.
Champion's
Profile: Mark Clark is 29 years old and works for Merrill Lynch Global
Client Services. He is married to Kristie and has been bowling for 21
years. Mark bowls leagues at Poplar Creek, Brunswick Zone River Grove, and
Burr Oak Bowl. His high game is 300 and he has an 855 high series to his
credit. Mark used several Brunswick balls this week drilled by Tom Carter
and Jason Wojnar. Mark credits DJ Hynes and Tom Carter as having helped
him to improve his game. He thanked his wife Kristie for her support and
all the spectators for their support during the finals. Mark also thanked
the ABT and Hawthorn Lanes for having the event. Mark said his winnings
would go towards a house fund and a trip to Vegas for the High Roller and
the Mini Eliminator.
