*** Chapman Earns Black Shirt ***

Randy Chapman earned his "black shirt" by winning his second ABT title in our Firecracker Singles at Brunswick Zone Mt. Prospect.

Randy qualified tenth for the top 12 finals then advanced to the championship match by defeating Rich Manno 198-192, Steve Moore 230-192, and Dean D'Allessandro 215-199. His opponent in the title match was Gus Stamas who qualified third then advanced with victories over Bill Schlitz 240-184, Don Hall 235-212, and Larry Feinstein 226-187. The championship match was nip and tuck the entire way and going into the final frame Randy was clinging to a one-pin lead. Randy threw a double and nine in the final frame, forcing Gus to strike out for a tie. Gus struck on his first shot but missed on his second, making Randy the champion by the final score of 212-202.

Champion's Profile: Randy Chapman is 50 years old and employed as a troubleshooter for Com Ed. He is married to Ginnee and has been bowling for about 20 years. Randy bowls league at Wheaton Bowl and has a high game of 300 and a 785 high series to his credit. He was using a Brunswick Attitude drilled by Lynn Corey at Star Pro Shop in Addison. Randy said that John Scaletta and Lynn Corey have helped him to improve his game. Randy thanked the O'Neill family for keeping his confidence high during the finals. He also thanked the ABT staff and Brunswick Zone for having the event. Randy said his winnings would be used for vacation and that he was proud to be part of the ABT.
