*** Dubis Wins at Willowbrook ***
|
Chris Dubis won his first Chicagoland ABT
title by defeating Greg Gates 255-240 at Willowbrook Lanes.
Darrell Lewis opened the stepladder finals
by defeating Diana Murphey 227-209. Darrell then eliminated Wayne Malec
229-191 before falling to Chris Dubis 231-206. Greg Gates had a 25-pin
handicap advantage to start the championship match but Chris used a
4-bagger in the first 4 frames to cut the advantage to 5 pins. Greg bowled
well hitting the pocket repeatedly but Chris was able to carry better and
by the 8th frame Chris had a 15-pin lead that he held onto the rest of the
way winning by the final score of 255-240.
Champion’s Profile: Chris Dubis is 34
years old and employed as a managed care specialist for Trustmark Ins. He
is married to PJ and has been bowling since youth leagues. Chris currently
bowls in a Milwaukee travel league and has a high game of 299 and a 742
high series to his credit. He was rolling a Roto Grip Silver Streak
drilled by Chuck Eberhardt at Advanced Pro Shop. Chris credits lessons
from Bill Spigner and tips from his uncle John Dubis as having helped him
to improve his game. He thanked the ABT Staff and Willowbrook Lanes for
having the tournament. Chris plans on using his winnings for the ABT
Spring Nationals in Vegas. Chris said he loves bowling in the ABT because
it is a lot of fun.
congratulations
Chris!
