Dan Glowacki won his first ABT title by
defeating Scott Morris 250-231 at Willowbrook Lanes.
Mike Rimkavich opened the stepladder finals
by defeating Steven Smith 204-170. Jim Pennino then defeated Mike
Rimkavich 234-226. In match 3 Scott Morris defeated Jim Pennino 252-219 to
advance to the title match against top seed Dan Glowacki. The championship
match was a slugfest with both bowlers hitting the pocket with every shot.
Dan was able to carry 7 strikes in a row in frames 3-9 while 10 pins kept
foiling Scott giving Dan the victory by the final score of 250-231.
Champion’s Profile: Dan Glowacki is
46 years old and employed as a safety director for Pioneer Packaging. He
is married to Anne and has 3 children, Amanda, Andrew, and Tyler. Dan has
been bowling for 38 years and currently bowls league at Niles. His high
game is 300 and he has a high series of 811 to his credit. Dan was using a
Brunswick Ultimate Inferno drilled by Jeff Daggett at Strike Zone Pro Shop
in Mt. Prospect. Dan said that Mike Antonitis taught him to bowl. He
thanked the ABT and Willowbrook lanes for having the tournament and his
wife for letting him come out to bowl. Dan said his winnings would be used
for other tournaments and more equipment.
