*** Dubis Downs Dahm in Kick-Off Event ***
|
Chris Dubis won his first ABT Masters title
by defeating Donald Dahm 209-204 in our Kick-Off event at Lakeside Lanes.
Chris qualified 7th for the top 8 finals then advanced to the title match
by defeating Mike Martenson Jr. 198-178, and Cesar Benavides 215-205.
Donald Dahm qualified 8th and he advanced with victories over Rudy Seidl
215-202, and Bill Brown 250-207. In the title match Don turkeyed in frames
3-5 to open a 28-pin lead after 5 frames. Chris chipped away and heading
into the 10th the lead was down to 16 pins. Don left a rail in the 10th
that he couldn’t convert and Chris struck out to come from behind and win
the match by the final score of 209-204.
Champion’s Profile: Chris Dubis is 35
years old and married to P.J. He works as a contract manager for Trustmark
Insurance and has been bowling since youth leagues. Chris currently bowls
in the ABT Travel League in Milwaukee and has a 299 high game and a 742
high series to his credit. He was using a Roto Grip Silver Streak drilled
by Chuck Eberhardt at Advanced Pro Shop. Chris said that lessons from Bill
Spigner and help from his Uncle John Dubis have helped him to improve his
game. He thanked his wife for putting up with his bowling, his Uncle John
and Rich Phillips for their support, and the ABT and Lakeside Lanes for
having the event. Chris said his winnings would be used to pay off some
Christmas bills and to take his wife out to dinner.
CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS!
