Shawn Stok captured his first ABT title by defeating Steve Bennett Sr. 214-209 at AMF Classic Lanes. In match one of the stepladder finals Steve Bennett Sr. defeated Scott O’Neill 247-156. In match two Bennett defeated James Reed 170-144. In match three Bennett defeated Eunice Williams 199-189 to advance to the title match against top seed Shaun Stok. Steve Bennett used two doubles in the first half of the championship match to build a 38-pin lead after 5 frames. Shaun Stok doubled in the 6th and 7th frames to cut the lead to 29. Shaun finished up first and struck out in the 9th and 10th frames putting the pressure on Steve for his final frame. Needing a mark to win Steve chopped the 5-8 making Shaun the come from behind winner by the final score of 214-209. Champion’s Profile: Shaun Stok is 23 years old and employed as a truck driver. He has been bowling for 5 years and currently bowls league at Stardust III in Dyer Indiana. Shaun has a high game of 300, that he rolled in this weeks’ tournament and a 769 high series to his credit. He was using a “hand me down” Columbia Cuda. Shaun credits Brandon Mens as having helped him to improve his game. He thanked the ABT, AMF Classic Lanes, and all the spectators who cheered him on during the finals. Shaun said he was really glad to get his 300 ring and that he would use his winnings for some new equipment. congratulations Shaun!
