Ice Whitaker won his third ABT title by defeating Vince Ursetta 184-178 at AMF Valley Bowl. Bill Burton opened the stepladder finals by defeating Chris Hammock 223-160. Jerry Lawrence Jr. then defeated Bill Burton 165-158 before falling to Vince Ursetta 170-152. The lead changed hands several times in the title match and entering the final frame Vince had a 5-pin lead over top seed Ice Whitaker. Ice finished with a spare and a strike while Vince left a split that he couldn’t convert giving Ice the victory 184-178. Champion’s Profile: Ice Whitaker is 40 years old and employed as a police officer. He is married to Mary and has 3 children, William JR., Sparkle, and Elixis. Ice has been bowling for 33 years and currently bowls league at Bluebird Lanes. He has a high game of 289 and a 772 high series to his credit. Ice was using a Purple Hammer drilled at Universal Pro Shop. He credits his father as having helped him learn to bowl. Ice thanked God for the win saying, “He came with me today”. He also thanked his family for their support and AMF Valley Bowl for hosting the event. Ice said his winnings would be used to do some shopping at the Chicago Premium Outlets. congratulations Ice!
