John Krone won his first ABT title by defeating Jim Robinson 203-193 at Elgin Lanes.

In match one of the stepladder finals Ted Williams defeated Jim Peach 228-183. In match two Ted Williams defeated Joe Farris 194-192. In match three John Krone defeated Ted Williams 217-181 to earn his shot at top seed Jim Robinson. In the title match Jim was able to maintain a slight lead over John for the first 7 frames. Jim then missed spare opportunities in the 8th and 9th frames while John stayed clean to come from behind and win by the final score of 203-193.

Champion’s Profile: John Krone is a 20-year-old student at Oakton Community College. He has been bowling for 2 years and currently bowls league at Habetler Bowl. John has a high game of 268 and a 645 high series to his credit. He was using a Roto Grip Apocalypse drilled by William Clark at the Bowlers ER Pro Shop. John said that Brandon Arciola has helped him to improve his game. He thanked the ABT and Elgin Lanes for having the event. John had no immediate plans for his winnings and said that he would just put the money into savings for now.
