Greg Gates won his first ABT title by defeating Darrell Lewis 225-187 at Comet Lanes. Mark Kisala opened the stepladder finals by defeating Al Legan 203-166. Mark then eliminated Paul Johnson 223-186 before falling to Darrell Lewis 212-186. In the title match Greg Gates turkeyed in frames 5-7 to take a 23-pin lead over Darrell Lewis halfway through the match. Another turkey for Greg in the last 2 frames put the match away as he won by the final score of 225-187. Champion’s Profile: Greg Gates is 58 years old and employed as a truck driver. He is married to Sandi and has two grown children, Renee and Ken. Greg has been bowling for 20 years and currently bowls league at Town and Country Lanes. He has a high game of 290 and a 720 high series to his credit. Greg was using Storm equipment drilled by Wayne Kullman. He thanked Comet Lanes for hosting the event. Greg also thanked his friends and the spectators for cheering him on during the finals. Greg said part of his winnings would be used for some new equipment with the rest going into savings. congratulations Greg!
