Brian Spiller worked his way past four opponents at Stardust III to capture his fifth ABT title. Brian started his climb in the stepladder finals by defeating Dave Pippin 214-169. Next up was Russ Krueger who fell by the score of 202-180. Brian then eliminated Stan Culp 220-184 to advance to the title match against top seed Brian Casillas. Spiller doubled to start the championship match and quickly opened a 12-pin lead. Casillas turkeyed in frames 5-7 but Spiller did him one better with a 4-bagger in frames 4-7 to up his lead to 22. Casillas doubled in the 10th but it was too little, too late as Spiller went on to win 240-228. Champion’s Profile: Brian Spiller is 37 years old and employed as the owner of Stars and Strikes Pro Shop inside AMF Bolingbrook Lanes. He is married to Jill and started bowling in Junior leagues. Brian currently bowls league at AMF Bolingbrook and has a high game of 300 with an 803 high series to his credit. He was using a Brunswick Absolute Inferno that he drilled himself. Brian credits Jeff Daggett, Curt Aemisegger, and Bill Monce as having helped him to improve his game. He thanked his wife Jill for all her support and his fellow Bolingbrook members who cheered him on during the finals. Brian also thanked the ABT staff and Stardust III for having the event.
