Charon Frazier-Parks won her first ABT title by defeating Jim Aller 209-179 at Brunswick Zone River Grove.

Herbert Kirchgaessner opened the stepladder finals by defeating Cornelius Parks Jr. 200-185. In match two Charon Frazier-Parks defeated Herbert Kirchgaessner 234-190. In match three Charon defeated Mary Williams 211-207 to advance to the title match against top seed Jim Aller. Charon had a 31-pin handicap advantage to start the championship match but opened in the first 2 frames while Jim rolled a strike and a spare to cut the advantage to 11 pins. Charon came back with a double in the third and fourth frames to rebuild her lead and she held it the rest of the way winning by the final score of 209-179.

Champion’s Profile: Charon Frazier-Parks is 45 years old and self-employed. She has 8 children, Dan, Latonia, Neal III, Donzetter, Christopher, George, Charles, and Dominic. Charon has been bowling for 32 years and currently bowls league at Stardust III in Dyer. She has a high game of 243 and a 650 high series to her credit. Charon was using a Brunswick Power Groove drilled at Galka’s Pro Shop in Dyer. She credits her brother Terrell Thomas and her dad Charles Thomas as having helped her to improve her game. Charon thanked Jesus Christ and her family for their support. She also thanked the ABT and Brunswick Zone for having the tournament. Charon said her winnings would go into a college fund for her children and that she was glad that the ABT opened the South Branch.
