Jason Luna won his first ABT title by defeating Terrance Leonard 208-203 at Hawthorn Lanes. Terrance Leonard opened the stepladder finals by defeating Dustin Dobslaf 221-210. Terrance then defeated Thomas Frazier 253-167 and Steve Newman 216-175 to advance to the championship match against top seed Jason Luna. Jason struck in 6 of the first 7 frames in the title match to open up a 42-pin lead. Terrance closed hard in the final three frames but couldn’t quite catch Jason who hung on for the 208-203 victory. Champion’s Profile: Jason Luna is 20 years old and employed as a carpet installer. He has been bowling for 3 years and currently bowls at Brunswick Zone Fountain Square. He has a high game of 295 and a 757 high series to his credit. Jason was using a Columbia Rage drilled by Jim Erickson at Erickson’s Pro Shop inside Sunset Bowl. Jason credits Jim Erickson, Eladio Morales, and Lots of practice as having helped him to improve his game. Jason thanked his dad and all the spectators for their support and Jim Erickson for drilling his equipment. Jason said his winnings would be used to pay bills. CONGRATULATIONS Jason!Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Thomas Frazier, Darryl Purdy, Terrance Leonard, and Don Hall who each won $500 by breaking 295 Pots. Darryl Purdy won a 2-ball bag from Storm by posting the high series on Saturday’s noon squad. This weeks raffle winner was Jeff Lundquist. Tournament Notes II: We were saddened this week to hear of the recent passing of ABT members Harry Grauer and Rick Wilbert. Both men were well liked and will be missed by many. Our condolences go out to their families and friends.
