Walter Yandell won his first ABT title by defeating Griffin Taylor 207-188 at Woodview Lanes. In match one of the stepladder finals John Kolodziej defeated John F. Scaletta 219-187. In match two Billy Gottschalk defeated John Kolodziej 175-169. In match three Griffin Taylor defeated Billy Gottschalk 196-184 to advance to the title match against top seed Walter Yandell. In the championship match Griffin Taylor built a 29-pin lead after 6 frames but Walter Yandell strung a 4-bagger in frames 7-10 to come from behind and win the match by the finals score of 207-188. Champion’s Profile: Walter Yandell is a 59-year-old machinist for Burgess Norton. He has 2 children, Julius and Demetrice, ages 29 and 22. Walter has been bowling for 35 years and bowls league at Woodview Lanes. He has a high game of 290 and a high series of 803 to his credit. Walter was using a Frankie May Gryphon drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop inside Woodview Lanes. Walter thanked Vic Eckstein for convincing him to re-enter. He also thanked Joe and Mike from Back to Basics for all their help. Walter said his winnings would be donated to his church. Nancy received the $25.00 consolation award. The carryover for the next BTD match now stands at $182.00.
