*** Castro Captures Classic Title ***

Rudy Castro won his first ABT title by defeating Scott Pollack 168-153 at Lakeside Lanes.

In match one of the stepladder finals Bill McEben defeated Gwen Torres 215-183. In match two Scott Pollack defeated Bill McEben 223-211. In match three Scott Pollack defeated Becky Kaskadden 207-184 to advance to the championship match against top seed Rudy Castro. Scott had a 32-pin handicap advantage to start the title match but 5 consecutive opens in the middle of the match gave Rudy all the room he needed to erase Scott’s advantage and win by the final score of 168-153.

Champion’s Profile: Rudy Castro is 50 years old and employed as a die sharpener for Temple Steel. He is married to Patricia and has 4 children Renee, Anne, Diego and Kary. Rudy has been bowling for 10 years and bowls league at Brunswick Zone Fountain Square. His high game is 279 and he has a 702 high series to his credit. Rudy was using an AMF Triumph drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop inside Woodview Lanes. Rudy thanked the Lunas, Shorty Torres and Wayne Baasie for all their support. He also thanked the ABT and Lakeside Lanes for having the event. Rudy said he would send part of his winnings to his mother in Mexico and give some to his wife and kids. This was Rudy’s first win after 10 years of trying and he dedicated it to his son Renee who just returned from duty in Iraq.

CONGRATULATIONS Rudy!
