Randy Rush won his first ABT title by defeating Norman White 218-217 in our combined singles event at AMF Bolingbrook Lanes. Randy qualified 4th for the stepladder finals and started his climb to the top by defeating Doug Broker 252-181. Next up was LeRoy Williams who fell by the score of 240-166. In match three Randy defeated Steve Koszola 253-245 to earn his shot at top seed Norman White. Randy struggled in the first half of the championship match with three opens in the first 5 frames while Norman stayed clean to build a 32-pin lead. The second half of the match belonged to Randy as he strung a 4-bagger in frames 6-9 to come from behind and eke out the 1 pin victory 218-217. Champion’s Profile: Randy Rush is a 22-year-old currently unemployed construction worker. He is single and has only been bowling for 2 years. Randy bowls league at Strike N Spare Lanes in Lockport and has a 300 game to his credit to go along with a 724 high series. Randy was using an Angle Revolution given to him by a fellow bowler. He credits Jay Bolin as having helped him to improve his game. Randy thanked the ABT and AMF Bolingbrook for having the event. He said his winnings would go into savings. Randy said he never heard of the ABT until the South Branch opened but thinks it is a great club. CONGRATULATIONS Randy!Tournament Notes: This weeks raffle winner was Rich Ebel. This combined event produced what I thought were some very interesting statistics. Classic Division bowlers accounted for 63% of the entries and claimed 65% of the semifinals positions. Masters Division bowlers accounted for 37% of the entries and claimed 35% of the semifinals positions. That’s about as even as you can get.
