Don Kohler Jr. won his first ABT title by defeating Doug Broker 186-165 at AMF Bolingbrook Lanes. Michelle Leonard opened the stepladder finals by defeating Wayne Crumpton 208-183. She then defeated Gail Wooten 190-181 before falling to Doug Broker 224-205. In the title match Doug missed 3 spare opportunities in the first 5 frames while Don stayed clean to build a 32-pin lead. Doug closed with a turkey in the 10th but it was too little, too late as Don hung on for the 186-165 victory. Champion’s Profile: Don Kohler Jr. is 28 years old and employed as a parts driver. He has been bowling for 5 years and currently bowls at Brunswick Zone Glendale Heights. His high game is 299 and he has a 732 high series to his credit. Don was using an Ebonite Stinger drilled at Andy’s Pro Shop. He credits Nick Tsorvas as having helped him to work on his game. Don thanked Nick for talking him into bowling this week. He also thanked the ABT and AMF Bolingbrook for having the event. Don said his winnings would be used for bills. congratulations Don!
