*** Urban Earns Black Shirt at Bertrands ***

Charito Urban earned his “black shirt” by winning his second ABT title with a 227-211 win over Charlie Anderson at Bertrand Lanes.

In match one of the stepladder finals Ron Maize defeated Terri Crawford 212-194. In match two Jason Luna defeated Ron Maize 188-163. In match three Charlie Anderson defeated Jason Luna 172-143 to earn his shot at top seed Charito Urban. Charlie had a 26-pin handicap advantage to start the title match but 3 consecutive opens allowed Charito to cut that margin to 4. Charito then strung a 4-bagger to go up by 21 pins after 7. Charlie was able to close the gap a little, but a double by Charito in the 10th closed out the match by the final score of 227-211.

Champion’s Profile: Charito Urban is 41 years old and employed as a service center operator for Abbott Labs. He is married to Shelley and they have 2 children, Brandon and Nicole. Charito has been bowling for 20 years and currently bowls league at Brunswick Zone Fountain Square. He has a high game of 290 and a 755 high series to his credit. Charito was using a Hammer Big Blue drilled by Scott Maikowski. He credits Whip Ibanez, Mel Apilado, and Gene Reynolds as having helped him to improve his game. Charito thanked the ABT for letting him rejoin the tour, the ABT bowlers and all his friends for their support and Bertrand Lanes for hosting the event. Charito said his winnings would be used for a new ball and to pay some bills.

CONGRATULATIONS Charito!

Tournament Notes: Congratulations to Jesus Mojica and Dave Fukumori who each won $500 by breaking 295 Pots. Nice bowling guys!
