Ray Paez won his first ABT title by defeating Sean Small 259-212 at Bertrand Lanes. In match one of the stepladder finals John Miller defeated Billy Welch 251-216. In match two David Fisher defeated John Miller 193-188. In match three Sean Small defeated David Fisher 207-175 to advance to the championship match against top seed Ray Paez. Ray started the title match with a 4-bagger to open a 24-pin lead. Sean stayed close in the middle frames but Ray rattled off another 5-bagger to close the match and win going away by the final score of 259-212. Champion’s Profile: Ray Paez is 26 years old and single. He is employed as a motorcycle fabricator for DFT Inc. Ray has been bowling since age 4 and currently bowls leagues at Wood Dale and Hillside Lanes. His high game is 300 and he has an 811 high series to his credit. Ray was using a Track Slash drilled by Carl Edelman. He credits his father and Randy Stoughton at Kegel as having helped him to develop his game. Ray thanked the Kegel Training Center and Track for their help. He also thanked the ABT staff for running the tournament.
