Rick Votava won his second ABT title by defeating Lucas Wiseman 225-202 at AMF Rolling Meadows. Rick qualified 4th for the top 12 finals and advanced by defeating Steve Moore 191-169, Dan Annel 237-215, and Jose Camacho 256-207. Lucas qualified 5th and he advanced with victories over Al Shimkus 194-169, Carlew Milan 204-199 and Red Davis 243-241. The title match was close for the first half with Rick clinging to a 1-pin lead after 6 frames. Lucas left a “big 4” in the 7th allowing Rick to up his lead to 12. A double for Rick in the 10th frame put the match away by the final score of 225-202. Champion’s Profile: Rick Votava is 49 years old and employed as a truck driver. He has been back bowling for 2 years after a long lay-off. Rick has a high game of 290 and a 775 high series to his credit. He was using an Ebonite Apex Obsession drilled by Joe Bacagaluppi at Back to Basics Pro Shop inside Woodview Lanes. Rick thanked his girlfriend Gail for her support along with the ABT and AMF Rolling Meadows for having the event. Rick said his winnings would be used for bills and more ABT events.
