Rich Arens won his fourth ABT title by defeating Jake Woltman 227-223 at AMF Rolling Meadows. Rich was the top qualifier for the top 12 finals earning byes for the first 2 rounds of match play. In round 3 he defeated John Kolodziej 257-197 to advance to the championship match. Jake Woltman qualified third and he advanced by defeating Dwight Bergner 245-228, Steve Lewis 305-271 and Brian Chilcutt 263-255. In the title match Rich struck in 5 of the first 6 frames to build an 18-pin lead. Jake closed the gap in the second half of the match but couldn’t quite catch up as Rich hung on for the 227-223 victory. Champion’s Profile: Rich Arens is 24 years old and employed as a mechanic at Brunswick Zone Palatine. He has been bowling for 20 years and currently bowls leagues at Beverly Lanes and Brunswick Zone Palatine. Rich has a high game of 289 and a 780 high series to his credit. He was using a Brunswick Ultimate Inferno that he drilled himself. Rich thanked Thomas Huff for his support and said that his winning would be used for bills.
