Robert Makino won his first ABT title by defeating Leroy Walker 255-224 at Bertrand Lanes. Tim Nelson opened the stepladder finals by defeating Robert Finder 303-238. Leroy Walker then defeated Tim Nelson 236-221 and Jim Kedroski 206-180 to advance to the championship match against top seed Robert Makino. Leroy doubled to start the title match and took a 15-pin lead after 3 frames. Robert came back with a double of his own in frames 4 and 5 to close to within 6 pins then pulled away with a 4 bagger in frames 7-10 to win by the final score of 255-224. Champion’s Profile: Robert Makino is 23 years old and employed by Jim and Steve’s Sports Card Shop. He has been bowling for 10 years and bowls league at Rynish Bowling Center. His high game is 300 and he has a 757 high series to his credit. Robert was using an Ebonite Overtime drilled by G.W. Gregg. Beside bowling Robert enjoys all sports and poker. He thanked his girlfriend Alicia for her support, his dad Jeff for helping him with his game, G.W. Gregg for drilling his equipment and the ABT and Bertrand’s for having the tournament.
