John Scaletta won his 8th ABT title by defeating Jim Kedroski 233-227 at Bowling Green Sports Center. John qualified 5th for the stepladder finals then advanced to the title match by defeating Sheldon Mathis 197-178, John Sypniewski 207-205, and Ken Flynn 228-186. John turkeyed to start the title match to build a 39-pin lead. Jim strung a 4-bagger in frames 5-8 to cut the lead down to 17. John left a 4-9 in the 9th frame giving Jim a chance to win with a double in the 10th. Jim struck on his first shot but left a 5-pin on his second making John the winner by the final score of 233-227. Champion’s Profile: John Scaletta is 56 years old and employed as a bank supervisor. He is married to Linda and they have 2 grown children, John and Lisa. John has been bowling for 48 years and bowls leagues at Woodview, Stardust, and River Rand. His high game is 300 and he has an 835 high series to his credit. John was using a Track Exception 5.0 drilled by William Clark at Bowlers ER Pro Shop. He thanked his family and the spectators for their support and the ABT and Bowling Green for having the tournament. John said his winnings would be used for more tournaments.
